Vernal Equinox

what is this all about?
this great pull to lie down
for a mindless moment
while getting drunk on skin
youre in for the ride of life...
youve signed up between the lines of the lips
and the pen still drips with the ink of the greatest
drink of loves softest slip

what a long walk up to the top
where the stairs end at the widows walk
you can only see out at the view
if you breathed hard enough on the way up
and then its yours to have
what do you see? can you see me?
i think i see you there, looking back
you look happy, if a bit lost.

what for, this great mystery of life?
this race through color and heat
through seasons, senses and guts
through doors i thought i knew
before some time ago
i kicked them then for their apathetic insult
and they gave up.
so... where are we off to?

You're real talented and have proven that the music scene really isn't owned by Fiona Apple.

March 27th 2003...

was a birth-and-death kinda day for me,
acrophobically toeing over the equinoctial dotted line,
gazing starry-eyed toward the heavens at this indelible celestial sign
I remember this momentous ascension so vividly.
Recalling the gasps of breath of which you speak,
a sentimental kiss both hello and goodbye had been whet upon my cheek
as we simultaneously embraced our futures while letting go of our past
my best friend's daughter drew in her very first as my grandfather drew his last.

Aspiring high up in the gambrel an open door to the sky,
no foothold past the precipice of fear in wishing we could fly
no threshold to joy in mourning our loss beyond the casting of the die.
Equidistant in darkness and lightheartedness
as we were both then from the sun and the moon,
equal too were the higher risks at stake
should we ever resign to make the fatal mistake
of giving up on ourselves too soon.

Assuming between the known and believed,
whether assumed to be true or merely perceived,
it's the closed doors that force us in disparate direction
by protecting us from the roads never meant to be taken
that serve to define the journey that is our destination,
by victoriously rewarding us with defeat.
Our passions are never singular things,
neither were such these lofty dreams,
Restively laying in wait for no one,
defiantly, time Marches relentlessly on
in this unceasing color and heat.

Dear One,
Soul Sista from way beyond time--
how long since we last laughed
danced and rhymed?
floated down by the rivers edge
star children shining in mothers roots.
I've missed laughing
and want to pluck strum nylon
notes from the heights
sweet sister o mine!

Towards the One,

If it wasn't for the long gray coolness of dark winter nights
If it wasn't for a soft quiet snow
How could we ever sleep so long, so deep?
To be awakened fresh and ready to blossom
To ask for nothing and yet to grow...
